Pinterest Tailors Its Browsing Experience for the French Community

France has its own style when it comes to social media. (You won’t catch a government official using hashtags on Twitter; they use mot-dièse.)

After adding a French language setting last year, Pinterest is now catering to the discerning palates of this culturally influential country with a local version of the site created just for them.

Welcome to Pinterest, France.

Starting today, “French pinners will see more local content in Search and category feeds, as well as links to more French domains and pins with descriptions in French,” the announcement reads.

In other words, the food, fashion, art, and cinema that have made France a cultural hub for centuries will now do the same for the image bookmarking site.

Sara of Petit Poulou and Dorian Nieto are the first of 300 French bloggers who will appear on Pinterest as part of the Pin It Forward France, or Epingler c’est partager, campaign.

Wrote Nieto, “This campaign in which I am participating will allow you to discover my universe, as well as many other universes, and will open you up to a whole world of things that you’ve probably never even imagined.”
