What’s New This Week?
Facebook Gives You Better Controls to Manage Your Content: Facebook’s latest updates include “Privacy Shortcuts, an easier-to-use Activity Log and a new Request and Removal tool for managing multiple photos you’re tagged in.”

To access key settings for the new Privacy Shortcuts, you just go to the Facebook toolbar.
YouTube and Google+ Improve Integration: Now “when you upload a new public video to YouTube, you’ll have the option to share to Google+. Simply check the box, add a note and you’re all set.” Google+ will display all of your public YouTube videos on your Google+ profile.

Google+ will "also rename the 'Videos' tab to 'YouTube' and send people to YouTube when they click."

Google Maps Is Now Available for iPhone: Google Maps is “rolling out across the world in the Apple App Store. It’s designed from the ground up to combine the comprehensiveness and accuracy of Google Maps with an interface that makes finding what you’re looking for faster and easier.” This intuitive mobile mapping experience has made this a popular app.

Pinterest Builds a Dedicated Spam Team: This new Pinterest team is “hard at work investigating reports and building systems that detect, remove and prevent spam.”

You can use Pinterest's blocking and reporting features to help stop spam.
Foursquare Adds Events for Businesses: You can “add events, like a trivia tournament or open mic night, to Foursquare listings you manage.” People will see these events when they’re deciding where to go, when they check into your business and when they look at their check-in history.

You can add your own event for your business on Foursquare.
Foursquare’s Android Update Gives You More Information: “Foursquare now shows you the most important stuff up front, like the rating, the address and things like hours, the menu and a phone number. And there are big, swipeable photos at the top to help you get a sense of what it’s like.”

Foursquare gives you "all the information you need to help you make your decision."
Facebook Announces the Preferred Marketing Developer Center: “Since launching last April, the Preferred Marketing Developer (PMD) program has brought developers to the right clients and made it possible for any brand or company to build comprehensive Facebook campaigns and presences.” This new PMD Center is to help marketers “easily find the companies they need to build enterprise tools and apps—all in one place.”

Bit.ly iPhone App Gets More Features: With these new features, you now have “easy access to your bitmarks and bundles wherever you are.”

"You can now see click counts for your links directly from bitmarks list, giving you the chance to check your stats in seconds while out and about."
Scoop.it Unveils Newly Redesigned Platform: The content curation tool Scoop.it’s new design now includes an Insight feature that “allows a user to quickly enrich and personalize any article, video or image they post to their network with personal commentary and unique perspective.”

You can now easily share your own insights as you share articles from others on Scoop.it.
Flickr Gets New Navigation Bar and Explore Page: These new features make browsing Flickr faster and easier “so you can quickly get to the photos you love.” There’s also an updated Flickr app for iPhone.

Buffer Gets a New Web and Mobile Interface: This popular social media management platform gets a brand-new web app and iPhone app to further help social media marketers.

The new Buffer features are "more tailored to manage and learn about your social sharing."
LinkedIn Announces 12 Best LinkedIn Company Pages: Here are some “great examples of how businesses and organizations are using their LinkedIn Company Page to showcase their brand and connect with their target audience in a meaningful way.”

Instagram Announces Web Profiles: The popular mobile app Instagram now has web-based profiles. “Your web profile features a selection of your recently shared photographs just above your profile photo and bio, giving others a snapshot of the photos you share on Instagram. In addition, you can follow users, comment and like photos and edit your profile easily and directly from the web.”

Instagram users have a new way to share their photos and interact with their community on Instagram.
Pinterest Rolls Out Secret Boards: Pinterest is rolling out a test that enables anyone to create three secret boards. “You can use secret boards to keep track of holiday gifts, plan a special event or work on a project you aren’t yet ready to share with the rest of the world.”

Facebook Updates iOS App With Gifts: “Users in the U.S. who already have access to Facebook Gifts will now be able to browse and send gifts to friends either by visiting a friend’s profile or the Events section of the app.”

Facebook Gifts are now available on the new Facebook app.
Tumblr Releases New iPhone App: This new iPhone app is faster and has a more responsive Tumblr Dashboard.

The new Tumblr iPhone app has new notification previews and a variety of new features.

New Twitter Profiles: This Week in Social Media

What’s New This Week?
Twitter Rolls Out New Profiles: You can now “upload an all-new header photo on mobile apps for iPad, iPhone and Android or twitter.com, and the same image will appear whenever anyone views your profile on the web or these apps.” Apple iPad users also have a new Twitter app.

"While the header photo keeps your profile simple and consistent on iPhone, iPad and Android, you will also still have an additional photo—a background photo—on twitter.com."
Facebook Offers Now Available Globally: Facebook Offers was released to a limited basis earlier this year. From now on “businesses with more than 400 fans can create online Offers directly from their Facebook Pages.” Businesses will be charged at least $5 per Offers post.

"All businesses—from large brands to local retailers— can use Offers to drive sales, traffic and reach in news feed."

Google+ Launches Tools for Business: Google is launching an initial set of Google+ features designed specifically for business. These new tools work through the Google Apps feature. “During this preview period, organizations that have gone Google will be able to use the business features of Google+ for free through the end of 2013.”

Google+ tools for business include Restricted Updates, which can only be seen by other users in your organization.
Twitter Launches Twitter Certified Products Program: To make it easier for businesses to find the right tools, Twitter is launching the Twitter Certified Products Program with a select group of Twitter developers.

Twitter developers can use these three categories of Certified Products.

Facebook Adds Admin Roles: This Week in Social Media

Facebook Gives Granularity to Page Admin Roles: Businesses with Facebook Pages can now set five different roles for their admins: Manager, Content Creator, Moderator, Advertiser and Insights Analyst. This is a useful tool for Facebook managers.

Businesses on Facebook can now grant page admins varying degrees of permissions, depending on their role.
Facebook Adds Post Scheduling: You can now schedule posts directly on your Facebook Page. ”You can prepare a post and schedule it to appear later by adding a date and time in the future before you post it.”

"You can schedule a post up to 6 months in advance in 15-minute intervals," and you can also "choose a date in the past" and your post will appear at the appropriate place on your Page's Timeline.

Pinterest Rival Fancy Brings Social Commerce to iPhone: The Fancy iPhone app allows people to browse the cool products shared on Fancy and also purchase items directly through their mobile devices.

Fancy has nearly one million users who press the Fancy button 3 million times every week.
Enhancer Adds Music to Vimeo Videos: Vimeo’s new Enhancer tool makes it easy for users to find and add music to their videos. The music catalog “has tracks in tons of genres, with lots for free.”
