Facebook said Monday that it was investigating reports that its recent @Facebook.com email change altered email addresses within a user’s contact list. At issue is a recent update that switched the email address listed by Facebook users on their Timelines to an @Facebook.com address by default. ars technica
The change’s consequences have now carried over to any users who allow Facebook to sync contact info from their friends’ accounts. For many users, friends’ real email addresses have been replaced with @facebook.com ones. As a result, users have been sending emails to their friends’ Facebook inboxes.
